The accomplishments connected to Research and Creative Activity aim to help you bridge the gap between your specific classroom activities and assignments, and the broader, more abstract skills and capabilities that appeal to employers and that support effective community engagement and social transformation. Additionally, you will attend cultural events such as plays, films, and art exhibits, and write reflections that demonstrate your understanding of the connections between artistic and creative work, on the one hand, and the projects of social transformation and good citizenship, on the other. Because this badge seeks to emphasize and provide opportunities for the practical application of academic knowledge and skills beyond the academic setting, we also ask you to adapt some of your class projects for non-academic audiences, and to think about how you might demonstrate the value of artistic and humanistic capabilities in the social, political, and cultural contexts we enter and engage with every day. This badge connects to the other badges by encouraging you to see your academic research and creative activity in terms of the themes and issues this program addresses, and to translate your knowledge and skills to make them accessible and interesting to broader audiences.
